Thursday 14th, April 2011.

We were off shopping for the coming monthly harinam and Sankirtana Saturday in Gent.  We had loads of groceries in a trolley by the time we were done.  Once the shopping was finished, we picked Partha Sarathi up from the train station.  We were quick back to Radhadesh for the usual run of things. Saturday 19th, March 2011.

We rushed down to the Mangala arati ceremony.  The room outside of the temple was decorated elaborately with colourful banners (it seemed that Rick Prabhu had finished what we had started, making the whole arrangement even grander).  The ceremony itself was surcharged with a mystical feeling.  Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda had the most intriguing effulgence, which paraded through the whole atmosphere. Saturday 23rd, February 2011. Saturday 18th, September 2010.

We cooked the Saturday breakfast.  We cooked our regular Saturday Soup, with whatever ingredients were available in our scanty stores.  It was snowing heavily outside, possibly jeopardizing our coming Sankirtana Saturday.  It was a cold start with warm bellies for us on our Sankirtana Saturday. It was all happening at once on Thursday night.  HH Yadunandana Swami and Jaya Krsna Prabhu were arriving back from their big global trip, and Partha Sarathi Prabhu was rolling in to inaugurate a second Sankirtana Saturday.  Partha came the earliest of the lot and I found myself bouncing around the castle with him, just after the day’s Bhakti Sastri class.  He was going from one person and one place to the next, checking books, touching base and just generally keeping busy.  The day ended with the greeting of Giriraja into our room – I now had Partha Sarathi and God as roommates.

A new sankirtan initative has started in the Benelux, in a devotee friendly way. With no pressure and based on fun, the monthly festival of Sankirtan Saturday was created. It started on the weekend of Oct. 8th and9th. Some factors were: language barriers (the books are in Dutch, French, and English) and devotees feeling scared to go. Ninety percent of them never have done sankirtana. (more…)
